O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series at Ponderosa Speedway for Ponderosa 50/John Bradshaw Memorial on Friday, August 25
Junction City, KY-August 19- Ponderosa Speedway will present its highest paying to win Late Model special event in the last four years on Friday night, August 25, when the regional touring stars of the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts invades “The Pond” for the Ponderosa 50/John Bradshaw Memorial, paying the Late Model feature winner $5,000.
On Friday, August 25, there will be a complete program of Racing Optics Time Trials, Mason Racin’ and Arizona Sport Shirts qualifying heat races, Design 500 B-Mains, and the 50 lap, $5,000 to win O’Reilly A-Main Ponderosa 50/John Bradshaw Memorial. The Ponderosa 50 was originally scheduled for April and was rained out, rescheduled for May and again rained out, so this inaugural event was combined with the John Bradshaw Memorial to make what will for sure be an outstanding night of Dirt Late Model sports entertainment. The racing card will also see the Modified division in action, racing for $1,000 to win, with the Bomber class also in competition, racing for $500 to win. The Chevette class will draw for starting positions and run a feature event only. Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV is the defending 2005 John Bradshaw Memorial winner, with other previous race winners including Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY in 2003 and Benji Lee of Raywick, KY in 2004.
Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN is the currently points leader with the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series heading into this event at Ponderosa Speedway. Chris Combs, Justin Rattliff, Tim Tungate, and Bryan Barber are all in the top five as well in pursuit of Jewell and the 2006 "BoB Late Model" series title.
Activities for the August 25 racing program will see pit gates open at 4:00 p.m., with main gates set to open at 5:00 p.m. Drivers meetings will be at 6:45, while hot laps will get underway around 7:00 p.m., with time trials set for around 7:30 p.m., and racing taking the green flag around 8:00 p.m. This is a special event and it will be double track points for all classes. Adult general admission will be $20, children age 6 to 12 are $10, children under age 6 are free, while a pit pass will be $35.
Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday night, August 18, and feature winners on that evening included Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY in Late Models, Dustin Linville of Lancaster, KY in Modifieds, Keith Decker of Somerset, KY in Bombers, and Clayton Devine of Harrodsburg, KY in Chevettes.
Track championship division leaders heading into the August 25 racing activities include Bobby Carrier, Jr. of Harrodsburg, KY in Late Models, Jeff Johnson of Junction City, KY in Modifieds, Peydon Pelphrey of Winchester, KY in Bombers, and Randy Maybrier of Waynesburg, KY in Chevettes.
