Just to keep the topic fresh, this little juiced coupe is coming together. I pulled that old, dirty, worn out stock 5.0 from the "Dang Stang" and tore it down. The block needed to be bored .030. I used the stock crank and pistons, but ordered new flat tops with valve reliefs from Speed Pro. The short block is back together and measures out to be 306 cubic inches. The heads are AFR 165's and the cam is a small, Ford Racing letter cam. Topping it off will be an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake. The upper end will be assembled soon.

Brian if I remember correctly there was someone in your family that could flat build a motor. He used to work over in Harlan somewhere. ;)Something tells me I can read what I read but there is more then meets the eye here.
im glad your making progress brian, probably more than me although the funds just haven't been there lately... but wish me luck im interviewing for csx here in blackey next week, then ill build me a truck!! anyways i got the wheel tubs torn out to narrow (lets face it they looked cool but they came 6" over the frame rail, you couldnt have gotten that big of a tire in there anyhow) i got my 15x12 drag lites mounted up and moched under the truck to measure the rear end, i believe 47 1/2" total rear differential end to end length will put me about right... once i figure out my actual axle lengths i can send my new axles from my new rear end to mosier and get them cut down and resplined. we scrapped the old rear, the axle tubes had been welded in out of square and only had a 3.07 ratio... found me a free 3.42 (perfect for a street vehicle that may make the occassional trip to somerset and the rod run) with beefier axles in it anyhow.... to make a long story short, once the rear is cut down and back under the truck (on the red neck jack stands right now, concrete blocks) i can pull it to dads house, weld up the cross members, bolt up the stock 350 and turbo 350 tranny and stick it in, bring it home, build the dog house back around it, re wire a little, plumb the fuel cell back in, find a radiator then tie up some loose ends and just maybe the train wont be the only thing rumbling the streets of blackey! i hope that is!
lookout boys i smell a rat!!! well maybe not a rat but the super mouse isn't too far off!!! i got offered the csx job!!! 200 yards from the house and almost $18 an hour... im not gonna get really excited yet cause i still have to pass the strength test, physical and drug test... the drug test doesnt worry me but im not the most physically fit specimin in blackey... yall wish me luck and I i just might be able to build me a little truck!!!!
im talking 408 sbc.... turbo 350 w/shift kit.... 4 link rear suspension.... ford 9" rear and 4:11 gears.... @#$% you can tell a mountain boy from LHS when he finally gets a chance to make some moneY!!!!
