Rocky Top Raceway Announces 2011 Schedule
COAL GROVE, OH-The Rocky Top Raceway is proud to announce its much anticipated 2011 schedule. The schedule is the most aggressive in the tracks now eight year history. A minimum of four different sanctioning bodies will visit RTR during 2011.
The 2011 season at Rocky Top Raceway will get underway on Saturday, April 9th with the annual Test N’ Tune day. The eighth season of racing at RTR officially gets underway on Friday, April 15th with the “Opening Night” races featuring Late Models-$2,000 to win, Modifieds, Bombers, Sport Mods, and Mod Lites. Opening Night will mark the 100th race in RTR track history.
$2,000 to win Late Model shows will highlight a majority of the 2011 season. All but three of the weekly Late Model shows at RTR in 2011 will pay a purse of $2,000 to win and $175 to start, making RTR one of the highest paying weekly Late Model tracks in the country. The other three shows will pay a strong $1,500 to win purse.
The highlight of the 2011 season will come on Monday, July 4th with the highest paying race in Rocky Top Raceway history, the “1st Annual Buckeye Classic” paying $10,000 to win. The race will be sanctioned by the STARS Midwest Dirt Racing League Late Model Series. The Buckeye Classic feature event will be 60 laps in length and feature two support classes, the Modifieds who will run for $1,000 to win and the Sport Mods. The STARS MDRL Late Models will also invade RTR on Friday, April 29th for the $5,000 to win “Rocky Top 50”, another marquee event on the 2011 RTR schedule.
The newly formed ADRA Late Model Series powered by Suddenlink will also visit RTR for three races in 2011. The series will be at RTR on Friday, May 27th for the “GCP Engines Showdown”, Friday, June 17th for the “5th Annual Summer Sizzler”, and will have the season ending race for the tour at RTR on Saturday, October 9th for the “Fall Classic”. All three shows will pay $3,000 to win and $225 to start.
Sprint Cars will also return to RTR in 2011 with two OVSCA 410 Sprint Car Series shows. The winged warriors of the OVSCA will invade RTR on Friday, June 10th and on Friday, August 5th. The August 5th show will be part of the “Triple 25’s” that will feature OVSCA 410 Sprints, Late Models, and an $800 to win Modified show. RTR is also working on scheduling a show with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series that runs Non-Wing Sprints.
Another big highlight of the 2011 season will be “$5 Family Fun Nights”, which are scheduled for Friday, June 24th and Friday, July 22nd. Adult General Admission to those shows will only be $5. Each one of those shows will feature Steel Block Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Mods, and a 100 lap Enduro. The second annual “Ohio Mod Lite Nationals” will be part of the second $5 Family Fun Night on July 22nd.
The “Southern Ohio Flat Track Championships” will take place for the second year in a row with the Ohio Outlaw State Flat Track Championship Series returning. On the card will be a $1,000 to win show for the Pro Flat Track Motorcycles and Pro Flat Track Quads. A plethora of outlaw classes will also be ran in which motocross motorcycle and quad racers will be able to race.

The 2011 season at Rocky Top Raceway will get underway on Saturday, April 9th with the annual Test N’ Tune day.
