My child practically cut his teeth at Perry Co, lol. The first race we took him too; he was teething and was so whiny. The whining stopped as soon as the late models got on the track. He went to sleep and slept through the whole race. (He will kill me when he reads this, lol). Some of the best bomber racing in E. Ky was at that track. Skip Lewis and Tim Mason ran many good door to door races there. The road hogs and no cautions! One night we were there and they brought in a big, huge, white cadillac. That thing looked like a limo going around there. We always laughed and said he had to stop, put it in reverse and back up just to get it through the turns, lol. All the Paul Harris/David Dixon races, nailbiters. I remember one night when the throttle stuck(?) on Davids car and he went up the hill and through the fence. There are wayy too many memories for me to put on here. I would have to say that out of all the tracks we have raced at and visited...this one by far was the most fun for me. Wish it could be like that again.

I AGREE 100%, IVE WATCHED ANTON IN A OPEN WHEEL RUN UP THE HILL AND THROUGH THE FENCE, BENNY FELTNER ABOUT TAKE OUT THE FLAG STAND AND REMEMBER THE 84 ROADHOG THAT TURNED OVER SEVERAL TIME AND STILL KEPT RACING. AND AS U MENTIONED LOTS OF GOOD DOOR TO DOOR SIDE BY SIDE BUMPER TO BUMPER RACING IN ALL CLASSES AND SOME THAT LASTED TO DAYLIGHT.I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT TRACK AS MY FAVORITE , MAYBE B/C THAT IS WHERE I FIRST DROVE A RACECAR (WIPING IT OUT IN HOTLAPS OF COURSE)LOL.
supper time is here, Bringing it to the table in '07....BBR....
I remember the 84, lol. He always put on a show. I remember someone hitting the rock on the mountain right before the flag stand and flipping a dozen times. Not sure who it was, there has been so many. I also remember the foot races they had. Me, I had to let the children talk me into getting out there. I am still looking for those 2 little boys who pushed me into the wall, in knee deep mud and then laugh at me cause I was 2 miles behind everyone else... LOL... I would say there have been a lot of boys who got there start at Perry Co. And that was definitly a track to learn on. I have a friend, Bill Stacy, who used to race there. He said there was some Combs boys who raced there. It was before we started going. I cant think of their names but he said they drove a bomber. If I am thinking right, he said they were from Breathitt Co. or down that way. He said they couldnt be beat. Maybe you all would know who I am talking about.

MY FIRST RACE EVER WAS AT PERRY CO. I WAS DRIVING THE NUMBER 75 DODGE OF MY FATHER'S. WE HAD A 440 CID IN THAT CAR, MAN IT WAS FAST. THEN I DROVE A PURE STOCK CAR ( 34H ) AND ALSO I DROVE MY FATHER'S CAR ( 37H ) WHICH I NOW OWN. I REALLY LIKED PERRY CO. SPEEDWAY. JUST WISH SOME HOW SOMEBODY COULD OPEN HER BACK UP. GREG
I remember going in there and they wanted 17 or 18 dollars to get in the gate. I thought it was rediculous and a couple of my buddies just weren't willing to pay it. they weren't that interested in watching the races anyway. We ended up sneaking in through an old auger road up on the hill once or twice.
Wanna make a small fortune in racing, Start with a large fortune.

where we start is right i grew up watching the races at perry count saw many good race there with bad been david pacman, the wooton brothers cager baker eddie griffith, marc griifith, tim mason, the hensley's and numerous others the track was like home you knew everyone and always had fun. oh we cant leave out the luscious one mr lee francis
I remember Tandy Spurlock, skip Lewis, tim mason, and richard brewer always going at it in the bombers, and the super bombers were my favorite. Ramond Nichols,Robert Jones,Steve Staulings. No one could beat Robert when he wanted to drive. Then you had Jabber Jaws keith grey, jimmy collins and dale turner going at it in open wheels. But David Dixon,Paul Harris, Paul Davis and Mike cornette was some good racing. I would pay 20 bucks to get in around the hill to watch there any time
