Doug Drown Competes At Portsmouth
By Doc Lehman
Wooster, OH --- Doug Drown searched high and low for a race this past weekend and despite heavy rain throughout most of Ohio and the surrounding region Drown found a race in Portsmouth, OH to compete at in his Wooster Glass Co/Poske Performance Parts/Hamlin Automotive/Malcuit Racing Engines/Mason Racin/Bert Transmission/Hoosier Tire/Genesis Racing Shocks Rocket Chassis Ford Mustang #12.
Drown entered the competition at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH Saturday evening May 13 and came home with a solid third place finish in the main event. “We had one caution and it was early on in the race,” explained Drown. “It was a smooth race track. It was pretty awesome. When they dropped the green we dropped back a couple spots and then we got back in line and started picking them off and ended up getting to third. (Josh) McGuire and Jackie (Boggs) took off and I ran Jackie back down. It was pretty good racing it was the best I ever ran there. The car was awesome and everything ran great so were looking forward to going back down this summer for all their MACS races.”
This weekend Drown and team will be heading to Lakeville Speedway in Lakeville, OH for round one of the 2006 American Payroll Advance Big 4 Series race where Drown holds the record for most feature wins in that series.
“I love racing down there, it’s a cool bullring type of track. Its always tough to actually win down there but if we can run top five we’ll be pretty happy, they have a good payoff. We just need to keep the wheels on the car and stay out of trouble.”
On Saturday night team plans are to tentatively compete at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH.
