Allen runs in the class above me. He is allowed big tires and wheelie bars. He is at the top of his class right now. Wince dropped of a computer program last night for me to look at for the track. It keeps track of the laps and what positon all of the cars are in and finishing order. I hope to look at it tonight.
Any dates? Would love to know when we can try that baby out. The program you guys are talking about is making it sound even better. Shows me that they mean buisness. This track may put a hurtin' on alot of others around the area, because the word is buzzing at every track you go to. Can't wait, just waiting for a when and what time.
It's buzzing because it isn't very far from most of the racers. The program he is talking about is ran by wireless electronics giving a signal to the computer telling it what position each sensors is in and how fast it is starting from the start line and finishing at the finish line each time it crosses it.
More like how Nascar is doing their electronic timing, etc...
This track has the potential to be one of the premier tracks in the state or region! I beleive they will try to pull some big events after it gets going. After talking with the Mayabb's the other day and walking the property I was impressed! There is plenty of space and the surroundings are perfect more like a park than a track once it's finished. This is going to be 1st class. My guess would be whatever night they decide to run on, this is where you'll go to see the cream of the crop in lates and mods. And like someone on a previous post stated, I know 20-30 cars of all divisions that live within 45 minutes of this place, I live 15 minutes and I don't have to tell you where my late model will be.
I live exactly 18 minutes from the track and that was i that said that about drivers being within 30 to 45 minutes away that would rather run there than any where else if it is ran right. From the way Kevin talked to me, from the way he talked, this track will be 100% ran right and with the electronic timing and positioning, you will be scored right.
I am just hoping they will run friday night's so i can race at both Campton and Mount Sterling. I really like Mount Sterling and the Pence's but if Campton run's on Saturdays then they is going to limit me from running both full time because i will be wanting to race at Mount Sterling some more because of the long tight layout of their track, it would make into a better driver overall.
I was hoping it was something like that that AMB-IT systems are the best, I have said for a long time these systems should be mandatory for all tracks, it will stop about 75% of the complaining, because alot of the problems at the tracks are from scoring errors and time trail errors this will completely get rid of that, and will also in the long run save the track money by not needing as many workers, such as two or three scorers one system and one computer operator can handle it all, the the other people can focus on, spotting or other areas of the operation.
Also may I suggest the one way communication with the drivers from the tower, another system that will save the track money in the long run and is in my opinion a safety thing as well, because no track personnel would have to be on the track lining cars up, and the tower can give the drivers on track direct information about issues on the track like debris, or where the caution is, or lineups and they do it themselves. The same person that takes care of the timing and scoring with the system above can talk to the drivers, as well have a link where the flagman can communicate with them as well. Bascially have the drivers, computer scoring official, and flagman on one channel and the rest of the officials on another.
I like to hear the sound of using electronic scoring. It definitely keeps down a lot of ruckus. They use them for the Fall Brawl at Mountaineer Kartway and it sure makes things run more smoothly. The only issue I have even seen was once the leader spun out on a restart and the program put them back in the lead. I am sure they won't let that happen though. Simple mistakes.

Wince came over yesterday and told me they were making more progress, getting ready to hall some more dirt in. The guardrails and fencing will be nice when completed. They are really putting 100% into this which is exactly what you have to do. If you don't get it all finished before you unleash the hounds you will find yourself repairing normal wear to the track and not doing the extra's that make the it stand out. Hopefully they will put in a childrens area. We talked about it while walking the property the other day and he thought it was a good idea. I think when it's done the racing surface is going to be similar to Tazwell, TN (scary fast!!).
Latemodels, Modifieds, Bombers (super bombers, sportsman, bombers, pure stock), four cylinders and maybe road hogs.
I am 100% sure on latemodels, modifieds, bombers and four cylinders. Hopefully they will bring back the road hogs with the rules that Perry County use to have (no cautions, only red flag if a car has rolled over or is blocking the track or if they think or know someone is hurt).
Maybe joesraceparts can give us more info on the classes. Just for an idea, bombers and pure stocks in one class and super bombers and sportsmans in another class. The old street stock rules from Perry County with 8" tires instead of latemodel tires and the new Sportsman rules from Richmond and Ponderosa would be one heck of a class to watch.
