It is just a little over three weeks away to the MMS banquet and Toni and I have begun rounding up some door prizes for the folks that will be able to attend. Including another basket of bath soaps (grin).
Just a reminder for folks to mark their calendars to remember the banquet that will be held at the Ponderosa Steak House on Morton Blvd. in Hazard, starting around 5:30 pm and ending???.
If last time is any indication, everyone is going to have an absolute ball allowing everyone to get back together at least one more time before the off-season blues get into full swing.
The spontaneous entertainment that's always happening at these events is just as exciting as the event itself. Filling the room with joy and laughter that makes every banquet special. Who knows, maybe Roy will bring his black flag for DI again. (There's only one thing worse than getting black flagged at a banquet, that is getting a lay-over flag during qualifying) (OUCH!)
I can't think of any better way to keep the racing fires burning than everyone coming together for the event and enjoying the evening. We sure turned a lot of regular patrons heads with our....uh, enthusiastic revelry. (bright eyed little girl) "Mommy, who is that bunch?"....(Mom shaking her head) "Just a bunch of racers, Honey, just a bunch of racers". (grin)
We hope that everyone that can, will attend. We will be looking forward to seeing everyone again. AND, see who get the basket of bath soaps this year.
And, where there will be many fans again, just a reminder for the teams. If you have any type of small memorabilia, bring it for the kids and fans. It will make a young un's day to get something from their favorite team (treasure).
Thanks,
Warren and Toni

12 days and counting.
We're really looking forward to the get-together before the off-season hits full force.
It will be cold weather and BLAHs before you know it. (grin)

I don't think the 41 bunch will be able to make it to the banquet this year. If weather permits, Ms. Amber and the crew will be drag racing. She is going to try to outdo her time last week-end at London. One pass she was clocked at 100.4 mph. Another pass she was clocked at 102 mph. I don't mean to be bragging (who am I kidding I do mean to brag ) but for her to only have been in that Camero 5 or 6 times, I think that is pretty good. (But what do I know! ) We hope everyone has a blast at the banquet.

My goodness, Bev. I'm just glad she is taking the speed demon out on the track and not the roadways. (grin)
Incidentally, that IS very impressive to already hit three digit speeds in a street car on 1/8 mile. That is getting with it.
If the weather were not to cooperate, we would be glad to see you guys there too if possible. Otherwise, good luck on the run.

Just another reminder for the extravaganza THIS Saturday evening at Ponderosa in Hazard. I wonder if they are ready for all the racers gathering there again this year? (grin)(Will the police, fire and ambulance have to be called again or just the riot squad?)
We have learned there is going to be a great deal of door prizes and other items given away for folks attending that evening, so that alone is well worth coming out to join all of us. We have also learned that the track promoter (Calvert Sturgil) and crew have prepared a very special surprise for those attending, but we'll save that for them to announce when they're ready.
I will mention one unusual item we came up with as a door prize........a full size adult SKATE BOARD. But, don't worry folks, I won't be test driving this critter like the bicycle a couple of years ago (everyone in the pits were climbing onto vehicles). I know my limits and abilities, besides when I fall down, go boom, I don't get up as quick as I used to. (grin) I'm looking forward to seeing someone a lot more talented putting it though it paces.
Everyone that can, bring the feller, the missus, the kids, friends, or anyone else you'd like, to come out for a fun filled evening of laughter, reminiscing, and discussing the upcoming season. And you know there will be plenty of "smack" talk going on that night. (grin) ("Your arse is grass and I'm the lawn mower!")
Just to remind everyone, it is DUTCH TREAT if you wish to order a meal from the restaurant while you are there that evening. Toni and I are going a little early so that we can sit down to enjoy a delicious meal before the festivities begin.
Hope to see EVERYBODY there that evening. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone again before memories are the only thing left of the 2009 season.

Not mean in the least. Just circumstances of todays times and the hardships the facility, fans and teams have endured the last several years.
Last year, at the end of the season, the then current track promoter completed the lease terms, not planning on returning this year. Finished period. No banquet.
Then before, when the previous track promoter completed the lease at the scheduled end of the season, the same deal. Finished period. No banquet.
However, year before after several "no banquet" seasons, Denise and Jason Boyd took it upon themselves with their OWN TIME AND MONEY to hold a banquet FOR the fans and teams out of the goodness of their hearts and their dedication to the sport and everyone at MMS. Several people and businesses, us included, donated items and money to their banquet to make it as nice as all of us could afford. RESULT: Coming from the heart and not a billfold, it was one of the best banquets that we have ever attended anywhere and it will always hold a special place in our hearts as one of the best memories of racing we've ever had with the contributions everyone attending made to make it happen. You can't beat RACERS when they come together. It just doesn't get any better.
If fact, we took several business people quests with us that evening that were absolutely amazed that the banquet was being held by individuals and not a track promoter planning on operating the facility the next year, no captain at the helm. They could not believe that many people personally came together (fans and teams) with their own personal resources to make the event happen when it would have been so easy to just have let it pass unnoticed.
THANKS AGAIN, DENISE AND JASON BOYD for sponsoring the banquet year before last and EVERYONE who contributed to the event that year. We'll always remember the dedication and sacrifices everyone made to make it happen.
The banquet this year is being hosted by the same track promoter that ran the program this year and has full plans on returning next year, so this years banquet is part of preparing for their return next season.
THANKS, CALVERT STURGIL AND CREW. All of us really appreciate everything you have done with the faility this year and we are looking forward to next years program.
It's nice, in quite a few years, to have a promoter with long term plans for the facility that is dedicating their efforts into operating the track again next year.
I'm sure that everyone that loves the facility and the racing we've had there, is as happy as we are to have this consistency happening this year.
Hope to see everyone there this weekend. I know it's going to be a blast.
ONLY
MORE DAYS.

Thanks for all the props Warren..myself and my mom Denise had alot of help with banquet as fas as buisnesses donating stuff. It was really hard to do and took ALOT of preparing but to know that it was appreciated made it all worth it..
As far as last year, myself and mom actually was planning a banquet ourself out of our own pockets again. BUT due to money problems at the time we just couldnt do it..im VERY sorry about it but it just wasnt possible...We actually even had donations from some racing teams and buisness's that gave stuff to give away at the banquet. But when the banquet wasnt held and the season was ending abruptly we jusdt gave as much of the stuff as we could away the last race of the season...We didnt wanna get stuck with anything..But im sorry its not flat out being mean..me and mom just couldnt do it last year...
This year is different..were just helping out instead of running the show..A BIG difference and a HUGE thank you to Calverty and James and Alicia and everyone...
See everyone on Saturday!!!!!

LESS THAN
HOURS REMAINING until all of us get together tomorrow night.
YEEEE, HAAAA!
WOOOO, HOOOO!
YIPEE, KAI, YAAA!
5,000 LAPS OF HARDCORE BENCH RACING WITH PLENTY OF ACTION, EXCITEMENT, AND NO CAUTIONS! (Not to mention probably a few bear tales)
The closer it gets, the more excited me and Toni are getting, anticipating getting together with everyone one last time before the winter BLAHs (Yuck).
We are finally ready with all the door prizes for tomorrow night and we even have a few "special" ones to give away to some lucky people.
There is one very special "special thing" we are going to do tomorrow night. We are going to show some well deserved recognition to a certain person that has "racing" written all over them. Although pretty much EVERY ONE of us truly love the sport and are dedicated to the point of being a fanatic about it, this person's dedication, die hard attention to it, and the spark in their eyes whenever the topic comes up means a great deal to me and Toni to watch the way they act with anything to do with racing, ANYTHING.
It's just a little something from us as a proxy for everyone involved with racing. Once the identity of this person is revealed, we know that everyone will agree with us recognizing them.
Everyone travel safely and enjoy your weekend. Have a wonderful time either with us or somewhere else this weekend because it's all about enjoying the time spent with friends and/or family that makes life truly enjoyable.
See everyone tomorrow night.
Thanks,
Warren and Toni
